Stop Asian Hate

The names listed above were victims of the latest mass shooting in Atlanta. We need to say their names.

The Literacy Council of Montgomery County (LCMC)  stands up in unity with and in support of our friends, neighbors, and fellow citizens of the Asian, Asian-American and Pacific Islander community.  The murders on March 16, 2021 demonstrate that race and gender-based violence and bias is deeply rooted in the history of our nation and continues to perpetuate and inflict physical and psychological harm.

We know that the AAPI community is in anguish but will not be led by the fear of targeted violence and hate.  LCMC is an ally of the AAPI community.  We will honor the lives of the victims and their families by saying their names to let their legacy live on.  We will continue to learn and teach others through our work and community partnerships, and through our commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusivity.

At a recent public gathering in Atlanta to honor the memories of these victims, a political leader remarked that “justice is the face of love in public”.  Let’s live by those words and keep learning, listening, and loving one another in the name of justice.

Let’s say their names. Let’s say their names together.
